Companies explore collaborations in robotics and sonar detection

Hong Kong technology companies have taken to the global stage once again at MWC Barcelona, one of the largest and most influential annual events in the mobile technology industry, which was held from 3 to 6 March.

A delegation of 24 tech companies from Hong Kong demonstrated their achievements and cutting-edge innovations to 109,000 buyers and participants from over 200 countries and regions, including industry leaders, innovators and enthusiasts, all eager to witness the latest technological breakthroughs.

Numerous companies landed deals at the exhibition.

Robocore Technology Limited, a pioneer in advanced robotics solutions, announced that its Temi robot product will be deployed by the MWC organisers to act as a concierge assistant at an event in Hanoi, with further deployments likely to follow.

The Temi robot was chosen based on its innovative AI-driven features, including voice interaction, autonomous navigation and personalised service capabilities.

Also noteworthy was an announcement by Hong Kong start-up Aiqua which signed an MoU with Korean company FutureMain to explore using its multi-sonar swimming pool management system in Korea.

The solution uses sonar technology to collect pool data which is analysed by AI to detect drowning risks and monitor pool conditions. It will help pool owners to manage swimmer safety, prevent overcrowding or damage due to bad weather.

Appearing together in the Hong Kong pavilion organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), the companies brought their latest solutions in key sectors including advanced electronics and robotics, AI and big data and digital transformation.

The HKTDC also signed an MoU with Barcelona City Council at MWC to work together on helping Hong Kong tech start-ups gain exposure in the Spanish market.

The HKTDC regularly promotes Hong Kong’s tech capabilities at high-profile events around the world, such as major trade fairs in USA, Europe and other markets, not to mention featuring tech companies and start-ups at its trade exhibitions and conferences in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s next major tech event InnoEX will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 to 16 April.

As a premier business platform for next-gen smart solutions, cutting-edge technologies and disruptive innovations, InnoEX is bound to attract worldwide buyers and visitors eager to explore regional and cross-sector collaborations with a special focus on Asia.
